Well Mr. Gobbles and Mr. Giggles both have realized what time of year it is. I have seen both mounting the hens.
Now the hens just need to start laying again.
It will likely be by or even IN the creek....but I'm ready to boot up my incubators already!!

This was from day 2 of all of this, last Saturday the 24th. Can it just melt please 🙃, everything left is solid ice most of the day.
It was fun to sled on before you would slip just trying to walk normal 🫩

Suspected coccidia bloom causing a 7 week old (today) chick to prolapse.

She has been getting treatment since yesterday morning for coccidia as well as treating her prolapse. Trying a soak now, she seems to be enjoying it.

We had a hawk encounter last week when the chicks were attempting to enjoy the last nice day (for one hour) before the ice storm came over the weekend. 2 didn't make it due to the hawk and this one presented as fluffed up and self isolating yesterday morning. As well as b l o o d on the pine chips nearby 😕.

I'll keep trying to save her as long as she keeps trying to live. That's all I can do.

Watching the chick cam this morning. They are 6 weeks old now so they are doing well with the lamps raised, roosts provided and draft free coop.

Already froze my tail off going to check on the adults and feed them inside their coop.

Went ahead and disconnected the battery on the auto feeder because no one is going to brave the ice to go eat out there anyway 😅.

These last 10 ladies are still up for grabs from my fall flock downsize.
Penned with my cockerels right now so I can catch and load them easily.

4 welbar, 4 blackstar and 2 easter eggers.
Still laying and when I checked earlier I had 6 brown eggs and 1 green egg in their pen.

Ignore the cockerel in the back, unless you want him too. I have 3 cockerels that can go with these ladies if you want them included.

I will make a deal if you take all 10 hens, with or without a cockerel included.

Located in southwest little rock about 10 minutes from Bass pro.

I have about 10 hens and 3 cockerels ready to move. I usually keep better records, but last year was hectic from adding another child to our family.

A quick breakdown:

-Hatched February 2024 (so just over 1.5yo): 4 welbar, 4 black star

-Hatched summer 2023 (2 yo): 2 easter Eggers

-Hatched late spring 2025: 2 easter egger cockerels

-Hatched mid June 2025: 1 olive egger cockerel

Picking up at least 5 hens gets you a cockerel if you want them, otherwise I'll just make the time to process them when all 3 are big enough. None are mean, i just don't need 6 roosters.

Getting close to my fall flock downsize time.
These will be ready to go around mid to late September when my chicks from this year have hopefully started laying 🤞.

I believe I'll have about 28 hens and 2 cockerels altogether, if anyone is interested. I usually keep better records, but last year was hectic from adding another child to our family.

A quick breakdown:
-Hatched February 2024: 5 welbar, 5 buff orpington, 5 black star and 5 wyandottes (Some blue laced and some gold laced)

-Hatched summer 2023: 6 easter Eggers

-hatched January 2023: 1 black australorp (was taking care of babies she had hatched when her group left)

-Hatched February 2022: 1 speckled sussex (evaded me when the rest of her group left)

-Hatched late spring 2025: 2 cockerels ( I really don't feel like processing anything else currently but they will be ready for that in a few more weeks).
