Couldn’t let the Equinox go by without getting out for a little hike to bring balance to my day! Short but sweet 1.76 miles at Puma Canyon Preserve. Went mid day, so it was a bit warmer than I like, but managed nonetheless… even with 423 ft of elevation gain. Ember was more than happy to be out on the trail. 🧡🐾 🍁🤎

Got in a nice hike this morning with friend Lisa at Devil’s Punchbowl. Managed 3 miles on the Devils Chair trail (690 ft eg). Not too many pictures as we had to stay very focused on avoiding the very prevalent ( & nasty) poodle dog bush. Did find a cute little h***y toad though. 😊

Got out for a couple more miles this afternoon on the Big Rock Creek road from Vincent Gap. 2.0 miles/553 ft elevation gain. Unfortunately, all of the uphill was on the way back, and my legs (particularly my ankles) are not best pleased this evening! 😣
Conditioning! Ember seemed unfazed & thoroughly enjoyed the outing. 🐾

Between battling the heat/humidity, chronic fatigue, an achilles tendon acting up, and life in general…hiking has been on the back burner for awhile. All of the above has sucked me dry, and I couldn’t seem to motivate myself to get out and move. So to remedy the situation, I signed up for a hiking challenge…for/with my dog.
Ember is turning 11 this October, and both of us are feeling our age more & more, so I wanted to do this before she is no longer active enough to do it. We have 90 days to do 65 miles. Started with a 1.9 mile hike on a forestry road today. It was warmer than I’d have liked, but it was good to be out and moving and we both managed ok (Ember did a bit better than me- I’m hella out of shape!).
