Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

On a farm, rest is a rather inconvenient discipline. There is forever something requiring one’s attention, and very little of it respects the Sabbath.

Yet rest we shall. Today we lay down the work, turn our attention to the Lord, and give thanks to Him who blessed us with this land and the privilege of tending it. The work will remain faithfully where we left it, and by His strength, we shall meet it again tomorrow.

The estate is pleased to announce its first small-batch of Organic Cornelian Cherry Dogwood Jam.

Photographed here sporting a lovely vintage mason jar and paired with 20-minute-old toast and a branch from our onsite Cornelian Cherry Dogwood tree lest anyone question its provenance.

Taste-tested results: Delightfully sweet, pleasantly tart, and rather excellent on warm toast. Available while supplies last.

Next order of business: Cornelian Cherry Dogwood wine. 🍒

The nursery has officially closed, and a few of our distinguished residents are now accepting applications for new household staff.

I’ve been told they are looking for homes where they will be thoroughly admired, properly spoiled, and occasionally bribed with parsley.

Friendly. Handled daily. Sold as pets.

As always, first come, first served. The rabbits have declined to implement a reservation system. 🐇🌿

This weekend, the gates at Valor & Vine Farm will officially open for the first time at 825 White Hall Rd., Littlestown, PA.

It is a modest beginning, as all worthwhile things tend to be.

Awaiting you at the farm stand:
• Non-GMO, organically raised eggs
• Fresh herbs and garden plants
• A thoughtfully curated collection of used books

We also have several pet rabbits seeking estates of their own.

• Three weaned baby does — $20
• 8-month-old buck — $15
• 4-month-old doe — $15

We have spent many months restoring this old farm, and it has been our prayer from the beginning that it would become a place where neighbors might slow down for a while, take something good home, and leave with a little more peace than they arrived with.

We look forward to welcoming you!

The chickens, however, remain industrious and largely free of scandal.

Eggs and various seedlings will be available this weekend.

What becomes of them once they leave the estate is entirely your affair.
