You focus on very different things when you are a regenerative Ag farmer. Im looking for DIVERSITY in everything I do. From pasture forage to livestock to streams of income. My pastures will never be manicured but it will host enough abundance and diversity to meet the needs of every animal. I have never seen so many different birds and animals until I switched 5 years ago. Some I can do without though. :)

Swayback's bull battery. They got a month and week before they get to start romancing the ladies!!!

First up is "Big Boy" He's my first bull born and raised on the farm.

Second is "Screamer" because he's always yelling over the fence or through the woods for his girls.

Come along for some hive checks. When I first started keeping bees I was deep into every hive every week stressing and learning from mistakes and new adventures. Now, during this time of year I look for signs of a queen, swarm cells, supercedure cells and honey and on to the next. I also struggle with chicken math or should I say bee math. 1 hive equals none, 2 hives equal 1 or 4 depending, 4 hives equals 8 and 8 equals 12. Lol. During my inspection I saw signs of swarm prep in one hive so I stole those frames with queen cells and put in a 3 frame box, demaree split (first time doing this) the main hive to hopefully get the girls right and settled down. This gives me a growth opportunity so this is where that math above comes into play.

Spring honey flow is coming to an end so I'll be extracting next week and prepping the girls for expansion to get ready for the summer cotton honey flow.

Always something to do on the farm but if you love it it's enjoyable!!!
