Three years ago today I brought home the scrawniest, donkeyiest looking gray yearling. She was feisty, sassy, and prone to being very opinionated. Hint: she still is sometimes.
Even though we've had our ups and downs and a few sideways journeys 😅. I wouldn't change it for anything. She's growing into a gorgeous mare that runs to me whenever I call.

Progress! 😁

She's still incredibly difficult to catch in the field and still needs to be herded into the pen. But, once she's caught, working with her is getting easier. We managed to stand fully on the big scary tarp and carry around a surcingle without breaking in half. She was definitely uncertain, but worked through it beautifully. Finished with picking up all four feet for a quick clean, cool bath/rinse, some braids, a fly mask, being turned out with her friends.

It's taken quite a while to get to this point. Of all the mustangs I've worked with so far, she is the only one with absolutely zero curiosity.

Raven, my usually reliable steady girl decided this week needed a change of pace. She gave us all a bad scare with a very painful colic episode. Thankfully, I am surrounded by several amazing vets and the prayers of amazing faith filled family and friends. She stayed the night with the vet and received plenty of fluids and meds. She is home now and has made a full recovery, but we are also monitoring her closely. Don't want any repeats.
