Just a little over two years ago, this was planted pine trees.

We had a logging company come in and clear the pines, then it rested. Then we began discing. And we repeated the resting and discing a few times until all the stumps rotted and composted in. We also continued to graze the cows on it.

This spring, we are finally seeing the results we have been working towards. We have begun mowing and letting our beautiful native pastures come in and thicken up.

We haven’t used any chemical fertilizers, herbicide or pesticides. This is as regenerative as it gets!

Over the years, Cindy has built something special — creating a community of local farms and families, earning trust, and serving so many people with care and heart. We know the time, work, and dedication that has gone into building this and we are truly grateful and honored to carry it forward.

You can continue to expect the same local farm favorites you know and love, along with some exciting improvements coming soon!

A little longer of a read, but really worth it. I have a lot of issues with misleading marketing labels. I think it’s confused consumers not educated them. The only way to know and understand is to know your farmers! Ask questions, be curious.

This is why we trust Kraut Creek feed for all of our animals! Goats, chickens and cows. The feed is always fresh and the animals thrive on it!

🔹You Can Only Trust a Label as Much as the People Behind It🔹

In today’s world, labels like organic and non-GMO carry a lot of weight—and for good reason. But it’s worth asking: what do those labels actually guarantee… and what do they leave out?

Organic vs. Non-GMO — what’s the difference?

Non-GMO means the ingredients are not genetically modified.
Organic goes further, with regulations around how crops are grown—no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and additional standards for handling and processing.

Both have value. But neither label tells the whole story.

The reality is, a label is a certification of a standard—but it’s not a guarantee of freshness, nutrient quality, sourcing transparency, or the integrity of the people producing it. Feed can still sit for long periods, ingredients can vary in quality, and minimum standards don’t always equal optimal nutrition.

At Kraut Creek, we’ve made a conscious decision:
We are certified non-GMO, but not certified organic.

Why? Because while organic certification has benefits, it also comes with significant costs—and those costs get passed on to you. Instead, we focus on building feeds that are as closely aligned with organic practices as we can, without making them financially out of reach for the farmers and homesteaders we serve.

But more importantly, we go beyond what’s required.

We invest in third-party testing of our feeds and ingredients to ensure they are free from:

Herbicides
Pesticides
Mycotoxins
Antibiotics
Hormones

None of that testing is required for non-GMO certification. We do it because we want to know—not assume—that what we’re providing is clean, safe, and worthy of the animals you raise and the families you feed.

At the end of the day, labels matter—but integrity matters more.

The best guarantee of quality isn’t just what’s printed on the bag…
It’s the people willing to stand behind it.

A beautiful new bull calf joined the farm! Mama was born here 3 years ago, one of the first heifers we kept back to grow the herd. She’s doing a wonderful job as a first time Mom!
