We take pride in raising animals within our sustainable farming system. We utilize soil health practices that allow us to raise quality forage fed 4 Star Farm is a family owned and operated farm in Live Oak, FL. After moving around for many years we made the decision to move back to our home town to be closer to family and allow our children to experience life on a farm like their father experienced growing up. We utilize multi-animal rotational grazing, manure fertility program, and multi-variety forage program. We plant 6 forage types in the summer and 12-15 in the winter annually to provide excellent nutrients to our animals and the soil. We take pride in using sustainable agricultural practices on our farm while producing quality cattle and goats. We believe that taking care of animals teaches our children responsibility, teamwork and compassion for others. We treat our animals with compassion and make sure that they have the best nutrition that we can provide. For our farm we want to care for animals the way we feel like we should and this is the reason why we have chosen not to go completely organic. Our farm is not an organic or solely grass fed operation because our animals graze on a variety of nutritious forages that specific certifications will not allow you to grow on your farm. Our farm does allow our animals to graze on small grains while in the vegetative stage, and these forages rarely reach a reproductive stage. Every group of hand selected forages offer an individualized range of nutrients that our animals benefit from. We do de-worm and utilize vaccinations for our animals. However, deworming is only utilized when need is determined from f***l testing.
