started with its founder, Chris, who, like the majority of Bay Area residents, participated in the daily grind of commuting several hours for work, wearing the same tread lines in each lane, and driving predictable routes while navigating unpredictable driver behavior. To make the drive time less painful, countless hours were spent thinking about great times with family and friends, entertaining s
tories, and exciting travels. A theme emerged as these memories seemed to have a common denominator: beer. Whether it was trying a new special release, spending time in the taproom of another craft brewery, or hanging out at the lake with friends toasting to a great day, Chris knew that this common denominator could become something more. From there, Chris started brewing in his garage, a hobby that quickly caught the attention of those in his neighborhood, leading to the creation of a consistent and easy-to-reach quality control panel. Recipes were refined on the road during the week, brewed in the kettle on the weekend, and taste-tested throughout the process. A passion for brewing, providing for the community, and an opportunity to share this enjoyment with others gave birth to Gridlock Brewing Co. and ultimately gave meaning to senseless years of commuting. Whether you’re suffering from gridlock on the freeway, emotional or mental gridlock, or even political gridlock, our beer is the unspoken friend waiting to relieve your stresses. A common thread amongst its drinkers, it is the beverage from which barriers will fall, stories and memories will be created, and an opportunity for people of all walks of life to laugh and enjoy time together, however long it may be. To us, the term Gridlock provides an opportunity to turn anxiety into flavor. Gridlock is the inability to derive at a consensus; we see that as an opportunity to blend uncommon ingredients to make great beer.
