Seeking FT Customer Service/Chef Assistant
Busy “Mom-n-Pop” Meat Market seeking FT Customer Service person (85-90%) combined with serving as the Chef/Owner’s Right Hand Assistant (10-15%). This is a 100% hands-on job with definite growth potential, including covering in the absence of the Chef/Owner. Duties include but are not limited to: fulfilling customers on-the-spot orders, handling raw meat products, rotating grocery and meat products, receiving, heavy lifting, and placing deliveries in their proper areas, checking to ensure the accuracy of deliveries vs. what was ordered, assistance with deli area including making subs. Assistance with all food preparation including salads, sides, specials, take and bake retail items, etc. Cleaning dishes, floors, preparation areas, and other areas of the store. This position requires someone with exceptional customer service skills and attention to detail. Weekends are non-negotiable. Culinary experience required. Prior meat cutting and/or handling is preferred. Food safety handling certifications a plus. Must possess a positive attitude and be able to adapt to a quickly changing environment. “Picked up two hand-cut NY Strips from Chef Drew D'Angelo at Mazzye's Meats this morning, and they were outstanding...easily some of the most flavorful and tender steaks I’ve had.

Pan-seared the steaks in a cast iron skillet, then topped with a bourbon cream sauce. Made sides: Utica Greens and creamy polenta with mushrooms and smoked Gouda.

Simple ingredients, great steak, and a pretty darn good dinner.”
