This video is compliments of Megan and Jeremiah Clark, the new owners of Chigger-Hill Roseanna’s 2024 doeling and buckling. They also returned to us to purchase Chigger-Hill Ruby Halo and Broadway Rockette. As we are ending our long careers as Nubian breeders, we are counting our blessings to be able to place our cherished animals in wonderful new breeding environments.
I would urge all breeders to spend as much energy in finding the right homes for the animals they have spent decades perfecting as they spend in looking for new breeding stock. We have worked towards this final stage for the past 4 years by selling all kids and a select number of good young milkers each year. It gives us much joy to know that we have done the absolute most to provide our girls with the best homes possible. We still have 3 senior citizen Nubians that will be our yard ornaments but our breeding and milking days are over.

33+ years with dairy goats, but it’s time to move on and spend more time with our kids and grandkids. We miss seeing our grandchildren’s activities. The last of the current “show” milkers and Chigger-Hill Twilight Zone are going home with The Motes Family at ABACA Nubians. They started 10 years ago with our genetics and have had such great success in building their herd. Our herd queen Roseanna, Got Milk?, and Daisy Twinkle will be strutting their stuff in OK and perhaps at 2024 and 2025 ADGA National Shows. I couldn’t ask for a better home for my beloved girls and Twilight Zone. Many thanks to Christy, Brian, Addy, Ashlee, and Ashton!

Well, we were blessed with a very productive kidding season! Numerous sets of triplets but, of course, the buckling outnumbered the doelings 2 to 1. The pretty little girls have found their homes. Buckling sales are slower so we have some nice little guys that are looking for homes.

I feel these two are the best of the lot.

Roseanna, one of my all time favorite does is pictured below in the ring as a 6 yr. old. Pictures on the milk stand were taken this week as an 8yr old/7th freshener. She’s like the Energizer bunny and she just keeps getting better with age. Love this girl!

FYI for DNA on Bucklings:

Just got finished pulling hair for DNA on a buckling that is leaving today. He’s close to 4 weeks old. Used the recommended neck site. I noticed how easily the hair was pulled, this is worrisome. I am thinking that the bulbs are deteriorating since he’s beginning to turn loose of his baby hair. This is a sample for me to keep as a backup.
I trust my customers so the buyer is going to be pulling her own hair samples to keep and to submit. I am going to advise her to wait a bit in order to be able to capture fresh (not baby) hair that will have a good bulb and not baby hairs that probably have a deteriorating bulb. My former career in laboratory medicine still comes in handy at times. Hopefully this will avoid submitting a sample that would likely give inconclusive results. I think being prepared in advance for this DNA requirement will make all our lives a bit easier.

The 2023 kids from Chigger-Hill have found their way to new homes! Thank you to all our wonderful customers, many of whom are repeat customers. Although we downsize every year, we will still have kids available in 2024. I will start taking kid reservations in November 2023. Thanks again to our loyal customers!
