Today looks good in the orchard. Feel certain the trees got sufficient chill hours. Expecting a good bloom. Hoping for no late freeze during bloom, no hail, plenty of rain and no major disease or insect pressure. APPLES!!

Orchard winter chores - Pruning out overcrowded and diseased branches and limbs, removing pruned limbs/branches from orchard floor, dormant tree spray of copper/ oil and chipping pruned cuttings for BBQ smoking chips.

APPLE UPDATE. Unfortunately we will not have an apple crop this year due to a warm winter and not enough chill hours for the trees to produce a good bloom. Normally we would start picking Galas in mid July and Fuji's in early October. Granny's in late October. We only sell at our little store and a couple of farmers markets when we do have fruit. We are not a PYO but have opened the orchard for picking on special occasions. Hopefully next year!

We will be selling a few items (apple butter, cider,cakes) at the Llano Farmers Market this saturday. If you need cider, message me to reserve your 1/2 gallon jugs ($13). Apple Fact-There is juice from 13 pounds of apples in each of our jugs of cider.
