Did you know this about lavender? 🪻
The Feast of St. John coincides with the summer solstice and has been celebrated for centuries many ways and in many countries.
One of the traditions associated with this feast is St. John’s water. In this tradition, fresh water, flowers, and herbs are placed in a glass or copper pot outside after sunset on the night before the feast. The mixture is combined with the morning dew and is then used to wash a person’s hair, hands, and face.
Along with lavender, the mixture may contain St . John’s wort, rose, mint, mugwort, poppies, sage, rosemary, mallow, and elderberry.
