Storage Onions (8-10 months). We are down to our last few hundred pounds. We grow two varieties, Red Wing and Patterson. We store them in the basement over winter and check them every 1-2 weeks and if something start growing, it gets used first. Storage onions should not smell; if you smell onion when checking on them, then one is going bad. Orders over 10 pounds are $1/lbs. Call or text Jeffrey at 607-315-7471 to order bulk. Smaller quantities are on the farm store porch.

Made salsa this weekend...what's your favorite recipe? We tried this today, and it was not too bad. Still tweaking.

2 pounds Roma tomatoes, halved lengthwise
6 unpeeled garlic cloves
1 large white onion, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch rounds
1 large jalapeño, cored and halved
1 large handful fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon freshly-squeezed lime juice
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (I add more)

- Preheat broiler to high.
- Place tomatoes (skin side up), garlic cloves, onion and jalapeño (skin side up) in an even layer on a large baking sheet. (BTW all these are at the farm store) Broil for 6-8 minutes, or until the tomatoes and jalapeños have blistered and blackened pretty thoroughly on top.
- Peel and discard the skin from the garlic cloves. Transfer the tomatoes, garlic, onion and jalapeño to the bowl of a food processor or blender. Add in the remaining ingredients and puree until smooth.
- Taste, and season with extra salt or lime juice if needed. Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 3 days.

Volunteer Request (Monday, Aug 31) - need assistance harvesting dry beans. Your role would be to sit back in a chair and pull the beans off the plant and place them in a bin. Bring a friend 😄 Stay as long as you like. Take home some vegetables before you leave. Looking to start at 11 a.m. Please message me and let me know if you can come out and what time you can make it.
