I’m sorry I’ve been on market hiatus because I’ve been busy attempting to keep up with the bees. I will be popping the tent for the first time in a long time tomorrow— Thursday, June 4 as part of Williamsville’s Music on Main event.

Find me on the corner of Main and Rock Streets— near from 6-9pm. There will be live music and lots of local businesses and vendors. See you soon!

A couple before and afters. I inspected the ladies at Lock City Farm and McCollum Orchards. (and a few at home, but I was tired and there are no photos haha)

I was surprised by how quickly some of the swarms are growing. Everyone needed an expansion. And now I am out of equipment. 🤦‍♀️

I was waxing some frames today and this little lady stopped by for a waxy snack.
I often rub beeswax over plastic foundations to give the bees a boost. I think it helps them draw out the frames.
I’m getting some equipment ready to do inspections at Lock City tomorrow. I have several new colonies over there and I expect many of them will need larger quarters.

Viola has decided it’s time for a new queen. See that peanut looking cell? That’s called a supersedure cell and it contains their replacement queen. I’m not sure why they are replacing her because from my perspective, it looked like she was doing a good job, but the bees know best.
A long time ago, I was told if I see supersedure cells to let them be(e). For some reason last year., I did not follow that advice and a hive and I went back-and-forth for weeks— they would build cells, I would knock them down. Until finally, I relented. It’s not my way or the hive way— it’s virtually always the hive way. 🐝❤️
