The harvest is still on!
Lots more San Marzanos coming if you're making sauce.
Beautiful slicing tomatoes 3 for $1.00.
The bell peppers are still growing, 3 for $1.00.
Cherry tomatoes (our best seller all summer) $2.00 a pint.
Last of the cucumbers, $.50 each.
Blackberry jam
Hot pepper jelly (serve over cream cheese, makes a tasty spread for crackers)
Black raspberry jam.
We'll be putting out spaghetti squash by the end of this week.

Happy Labor Day weekend! If you're looking to can some sauce we have loads of San Marzano tomatoes. In fact, our freezer reached max tomato capacity and that's what we're doing today.
Large slicing tomatoes 3 for $1.00.
Bell peppers 3 for $1.00.

First of all, our hearts go out to all the local farmers who were affected by the heavy rains and flooding this past weekend. Farming is tedious and often painful work, but so worth it when you get to see the literal fruits of your labor. Please, go to your local farmstands for your produce whenever you can. Your farmer neighbors deserve your business, and nothing beats locally grown, freshly picked fruits and veggies.
That being said, aside from some minor damage to our tomatoes, our garden is doing very well. The zucchinis are growing faster than we can pick them, and double in size overnight! We made zucchini boats for dinner tonight!
Currently at the farmstand:
Zucchini
Cucumbers
Cherry tomatoes
Tomatillos
Eggplant
Green peppers
Fresh basil
Freshly picked wild blackberries
Eggs
Jam and jelly

We've been pretty radio silent so far this summer. To be honest, we had a really difficult start to our growing season. The deer and other wildlife would not leave our garden alone. Our tomatoes and peppers and pretty much everything were eaten down to almost nothing. The plants didn't die and they're growing really well now, but it pushed our harvest back by several weeks.
Truthfully, it's hard to commit to not spraying any chemicals on or near our plants. We have to contend with weeds, bugs and all the wildlife that happen to come across our lovely buffet of veggies. But it is oh so worth it to be able to provide our neighbors with pesticide and chemical free produce and eggs.
We just put out some beautifully fragrant and fresh bunches of basil. Come get some for $2.00 a bunch!
The fridge is stocked with eggs and there is some freshly made strawberry jam and the last of the dandelion jelly in there too!

Slowly but surely the farmstand is back up and running!
We just finished making a fresh batch of Dandelion Jelly, and new this year we have a very limited supply of Black Walnut Syrup! Every thing has been made from the trees and plants on our land.
If you've never had black walnut syrup, you're missing out! Fun fact: black walnut syrup is a lot rarer than maple syrup, one of the reasons being that it takes 60 GALLONS of black walnut sap to make 1 gallon of syrup! This has been a true labor of love, emphasis on the labor! This year we have 3.3 oz bottles and single serve bottles.
Grampa Charlie has also been hard at work making his birdhouses so pick up one for your mom for Mother's Day which is just a week away!
And of course the fridge is stocked with eggs daily but they don't last!
We look forward to serving our neighbors again this year and hope for an even better season than last!
