Big Daddy (Jarred’s dad) made a surprise visit from Georgia, and the new indoor came in handy since it was a rainy day! We had fun goofing off with a couple of the mares for a bit.

The skid steer is Jarred’s favorite farm tool. When you can’t reach him on the phone, it’s usually because he’s somewhere on the farm with what we’ve been jokingly referring to as his “emotional support skid steer.” Now even Ben calls it that. I’m thankful to have a husband who works so hard to make all our dreams come true!

We are so excited to have Luke and Heather Schiedermayer and their LHS Equine join us on the farm! We've enjoyed riding with them and getting to know them while they've been getting ready for their launch. They are officially open for business now!

After months of planning, preparation, and transition from our original Florida facility, LHS Equine is proud to officially bring our program to Virginia and open our doors at Westwood Farms in Locust Dale. The beginning of this new chapter has been focused on settling our horses, continuing their development, competing, and creating a program where horses and riders can truly thrive.

LHS Equine was built around one belief: every horse and rider deserves thoughtful training, a strong foundation, and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We are incredibly grateful to Westwood Farms for welcoming us and providing a wonderful home for LHS Equine. With a beautiful barn, indoor arena access, a lighted outdoor arena, and approximately 400 acres with beautufully maintained trails, this property provides an exceptional environment for horses, riders, and families.

One of the highlights of our Virginia journey was participating in Fourth of July events at Mount Vernon, where LHS Equine had the honor of helping bring horses into a historic setting and sharing an equestrian experience with the public. It was a memorable opportunity that showcased the versatility, resilience, and connection horses bring into our lives.

At LHS Equine, we welcome riders of all levels—from beginners taking their first steps in the saddle to advanced riders pursuing their goals.

Our specialty and passion is developing confident horse-and-rider partnerships through Eventing and Show Jumping, built on a strong dressage-based foundation of correct training, balance, and communication. We also offer select leases, sales, and training opportunities through our program.

We are excited to become part of the Virginia equestrian community and welcome new riders, families, and horse owners to LHS Equine.

Another reason our foals aren’t afraid of water. We had to get a long hose so we can walk back and forth so that Can’t Touch Her Blues (Blue) and Snips High Hope WF (Joy) don’t monopolize the water the entire time.

ALWAYS wear a helmet...no matter how "good" your horse is. No matter how experienced you are.

This weekend was a reminder that no matter how experienced you are, horses are still 1,200-pound animals with minds of their own.

One of our trainers, Maddie, took a hard fall at Firecracker jackpot. It wasn’t because of a lack of talent from horse or rider, nor from ground conditions. It was simply one of those unpredictable moments that can happen to any of us. That’s the reality of this sport. We can do everything right and still find ourselves in situations we never expected.

That’s also why our advanced trainer, Payton, has worn a helmet every time she’s competed since the day she started. Even now, you’ll still see her in the competition arena with a helmet on and with no plans to stop. Experience doesn’t make you invincible. If anything, it teaches you to respect the risks that come with the sport we love.

Wearing a helmet doesn’t mean you’re not confident. It doesn’t make you less capable. It means you understand the risks and value the chance to ride another day.

You only get one brain. Protect it.

If this weekend reminds even one rider to put on a helmet before they swing a leg over, then it’s a conversation worth having. Ride hard, chase your goals, trust your horse, and never let pride stand in the way of protecting yourself. At the end of the day, no run is worth a life-changing injury.

EDIT: Wanted to add, Maddie and Rumor are okay! Sore, bruised, but back to work. Both are gritty girls!! We are so lucky to have them.
Also, reminder this is NO ONE’s fault! The ground was great all weekend. This team just had a freak accident!
