Echo (Journey/Stryker daughter) has been doing an excellent job keeping her owner's chickens & goats safe. She recently took care of a fox who didn't heed her warning to stay away from her chickens! While we always hope that our LGDs barking and presence alone will deter most predators....we also expect our working dogs to engage when needed in order to keep our farms safe and secure. Charlie is getting better each day THANK GOD!
The venom traveled and he started swelling on his "good side" and by his esophagus which had me terribly worried. Then 3 days later is started going down. He still has a ways to go but he's eating on his own now, tail wagging, and definitely feeling better!

Farm life.... ugh

**EDIT***

So....FYI. I should have kept my cool and reached out to my friend Diane who is beyond educated in so many animal related issues. But....I panicked. She sent me to a website this afternoon with great information and facts on the matter at hand. Most vets....and human physicians are not educated enough. Charlie has no active infection/no abcess; temp was 102.2. But was prescribed Amoxicillin. Rimadyl can actually cause kidney damage.....he was prescribed that as well. The one thing he was given that he CAN take because it's NOT a NSAID is Gabapentin. That or Trazadone would be ok. Lesson learned. Education is key.
Charlie is drinking, ate a little, and still wags his tail when I sweet talk him. He's going to be juuuust fine.

Charlie is looking for his forever working LGD home.

Dam: Hunter's Hill Sadie at H&L Acres (OFA Excellent Hips/Normal Elbows)
Sire: Grand Champion Rosin the Bow at Cougar Ridge (OFA Good Hips/Normal Elbows)

Charlie has primarily been with goats & sheep. He is currently partnered with a female Gampr.
Charlie is just under 6yrs old and is neutered. He definitely prefers women over men. Charlie will need a single strand of hotwire or a containment system such as Sportdog.
