🌿 AHS Hosta Convention Garden Tour 🌿
Clarence Hanna has an impressive place!

Clarence has huge hostas! Hostas don’t grow this large in hot and humid GA, so this was a treat to behold! I was astounded by the size of these things!

What thrilled me, was that Clarence operates very similarly to me in that homesteads/farms in addition to growing hostas!

He has chickens, to whom he throws his hosta culls, and honeybees, and cats.

He has a pollinator garden filled with beautiful poppies! I love poppies, but they don’t grow here.

There’s even a plot of land behind him in which food usually grows!

Because of the similarities, I thoroughly enjoyed Clarence’s garden tour!

They may look similar at first glance, but tiger lilies and daylilies are actually very different plants!

🧡 Tiger Lilies
• True lilies (Lilium)
• Bright orange blooms with dark spots
• Petals curl backward
• Produce black bulbils along the stem
• Individual blooms last several days

💛 Daylilies
• Hemerocallis species
• Available in countless colors and forms
• Each bloom lasts just one day
• Grow in clumps from the base
• Multiply by division, not bulbils

Both are beautiful, hardy perennials that deserve a place in the garden. Which one is your favorite?

The characteristic wheel is not yet formed on its back.

Wheel bugs are assassin bugs, they eat other insects. So if you find one in your garden, keep it around! It’s a friend.
