Update on Farm Bash, it is postponed until next year. I didn’t realize how much paperwork and red tape it takes to hold a raffle. I’ll just accomplish that and we will be back in business!

Observe these exquisite, delectable leaves! This year, we have cultivated several new vegetable varieties, including Malabar spinach and Tromboncino squash.

The Malabar spinach is a heat-loving vine that produces large, attractive leaves and can be grown year-round in certain regions. Additionally, this plant yields edible berries when ripe. The leaves boast a mild, slightly peppery flavor profile rich in vitamins A and C, calcium, iron, and potassium. It can be consumed raw in salads or used as a lettuce wrap, exhibiting a spinach-like flavor when cooked, although the leaves may become slightly slimy, similar to okra.

The Tromboncino squash, on the other hand, offers versatility in its usage and flavor profile, contingent upon the harvesting stage. When harvested as a summer squash (immature), it measures 10-15 inches in length with a pale green hue, featuring a sweet, firm texture akin to zucchini, ideal for slicing in stir-fries, grilling, or incorporating into zucchini bread. Conversely, when allowed to mature into a winter squash, the rind transforms into a dark tan or yellow, yielding a flavor and texture comparable to butternut squash, with a thick skin that enables prolonged storage, making it suitable for roasting, soups, and stews.
