This is the message we never thought we would have to share…HOP Smithfield is closing at our current location. To dispel any rumors, we will keep it simple: like everyone else, our costs have increased on just about everything. Most notably, our rent increased 40% Jan 2023 & then in June, (under a new landowner), it increased again another 140%+ (!!!!!). Obviously, we could not in good conscience continue doing business without passing these outrageous costs onto our loyal customers. We simply did not feel good about that. We have decided to leave our current Smithfield location.
Sadly, our last day is THIS Saturday, July 29th. We have called Smithfield home for almost 6 years so this change seems very surreal. Our hearts hurt. We have come to know & love our customers individually. And we know you all loved us back BIG. We have felt it.
There is a very real possibility that a “new” soda shack will take our place. But do not be fooled 😂 —it is most definitely NOT us.
As far as the future goes—we do have plans to reopen at a new, easier-to-access, safer location. We hope to make the announcement of our new location as soon as everything is finalized. We don’t plan on going far! Stay tuned!
Lastly—we just wanted to give the biggest thank you to the city of Smithfield for believing in us & to all of our loyal customers for your support over the years. We 🫶🏼 you.
