If you’re looking for 3D printed accessories for your chicken needs go give a follow and reach out to The Printed Chicken!

They are sweet people and the wifey of the duo is a friend of mine! 🫶❤️

We are a husband-wife duo behind The Printed Chicken. He has the 3D printer, she has all the chickens. 🐓

We are able to print an array of incubator accessories, lockdown egg stands, and brooder/coop accessories.☺️

First off: happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!!!

That being said, Father’s Day did not go as planned today. We WERE up at Amicolola Falls fishing when a personal emergency sent us home early. Nik was so understanding and kind with it but I felt so bad for him, and still do.

Once we were home and settled in I went out to take care of the chickens, collect eggs, and pick my way through the garden! Tomatoes, tomatillos, and peppers!

How did everyone else spend Father’s Day?

The garden is popping! These were all collected the past few days, as well as about 2 lbs or more of tomatillos! However I already have a few pounds of those in my fridge so the ones I picked today went to my neighbor 🫶❤️ I still have quite a few peppers to pick as well 😅 bell pepper all the way to reapers!

These two beauties are part of the chosen getting loaded up in the incubator for local chicks! So pretty!!!

Cut up lots of stickers to send out as little goodies on future orders ❤️ something simple, and maybe silly, put I like it. I feel like I’m sending an extra little bit of love towards those kind enough to love my eggs

Such a shame a pretty speckled egg was oddly shaped… so today it is breakfast

Also I will be making some informational in the next day or two to pin to the top of the page. These will include a breeds list, shipping policies and preferences, and a flyer both for Marans and for Olive Eggers about how those genetics work and what to expect. Thank you everyone for the continued support and love for my birds and eggs ❤️🫶

I wanted to take a moment to share what cull can mean.

Sometimes it can mean a hard cull, here on my farm I only hard cull for health or behavioral (thankfully this has only happened once, maybe twice) reasons outside of raising roosters for meat.

In my case most of my culls are what would be considered soft culls, meaning they do not stay with me but find homes elsewhere. Take this beautiful boy for example, he WAS going to be a potential breeder rooster for my previous generation and then he injured himself on the wire of the grow out pen (and pretty severely might I add). I switched up to his intention being to raise out for meat, then one of our followers reached out.

His previous rooster had (if I remember right) become aggressive and having small children in the house this was put to an end very quickly. He wanted a young rooster/cockerel that could be trusted with his little kids and could be a great protector for his flock. At the time the only rooster I had even remotely ready to be around adult birds was the cockerel who injured himself. I informed him of his leg injury (which was pretty much completely healed at that point) and his slight limp. I let him know so far he had shown great characteristics of a calm and gentle bird, and given his injury I had him accustomed to being picked up.

Lo and behold this is what he looks like now! His owner has time and time again shared pictures of him and his fantastic personality, both with the girls and with his young children, the latter of which are often snuggling him in the pictures ❤️

Culling doesn’t always mean ☠️, sometimes it means a second chance
