Fair time is fun time and we’ve been having almost too much fun at the Humboldt County Fair this week.

We kicked off the week with Tiny Farmer showing his rabbit Ricky Bobby in peewee rabbit showmanship. A contest where youth exhibitors perform a health check on their rabbit, explaining the various ailments and defects they’re checking for to a judge. They also make judges comments on the rabbit adherence to breed standard and answer questions about their project. They both did amazing and Tiny Farmer came home with an excellent prize bag.

Next Tiny Farmer helped sort the fleeces in the wool show. Naturally he placed them all exactly as they should be. Then it was time for some carnival rides and food before returning the next day to help dad sort a few more shows and celebrating the Humboldt fishing industry at the “Shellebration”.

If you haven’t made it down to Ferndale for the fair be sure to stop in to see the animals and get some delicious fair food! We are now back to our regularly scheduled programs (aka preparing for Oregon State Fair).

Making hay with Papa Larry! This alfalfa, clover and grass hay will be turned one more time before it’s baked and stored in the barn as winter feed for the ewes during lambing season.

Tastes like summer!!

Jersey Scoops is bringing the refreshing summer vibes with Pineapple and Mango Dole Whip. Regardless of if it’s warm or not on the coast this weekend the summer vibes are here and we are loving it all swirled together!
