Excited to share a new sustainable project we are undertaking with LF Bioenergy. Harvesting methane off of the manure to turn into renewable natural gas, which in turn will be used by the local communities surrounding the dairy.
LF Bioenergy has launched Phase 1 of a new RNG project with Christian Hill Dairy LLC in southeastern Wisconsin. The farm, managed by the Christian brothers -- Patrick, Chris, Curt and Bob -- and their parents Dale and Mary, has been in the family for over 100 years.
The first step is installing a Stjernholm sand separation system. This technology enables the continued use of sand bedding for optimal cow health and comfort. It also improves the efficiency of the LF RNG facility by separating the sand and manure before the manure enters the anaerobic digester system. The sand will get washed and reused to deliver an added environmental benefit.
Martin Construction Resource is leading the facility’s construction. Once operational, the facility will produce 350 MMBtu of gas daily — an amount that equates to removing 16,148 gasoline-powered cars from the road annually, according to EPA estimates.
