Busy day at the w**ery today. Organizing barrels for bottling.

In the "old days" when we were making a lot more w**e, when we did barrel selections for the Single Vineyard Designated and the AVA Designated w**es, we used to treat the 2 barrels on a rack as a single unit. Aside from cutting down on the possible permutations to a more reasonable amount, it made sorting afterwards a fairly straight forward task.

Since we're making so little w**e now, we've switched our resolution to single barrels. That means we have the fun task of swapping full barrels of w**e between racks. The first time you do it, it's super scary. It involves a level of precision forklifting that would make the folks at NASA proud. The key is to go slow, and have a spotter.

We made it through with no issues.... and can't wait to get these 2025s in bottle.

If you're in the Lompoc area on Saturday (Aug 15), I'll be pouring some barrel samples of our soon to be released Napa Cabernet and Cabernet/Petit Verdot blend (Divergence) in our Tasting Room. We won't be pouring at any of the W**e and Fire events this weekend - so hopefully you cand stop by the Tasting Room in The W**e Ghetto.

2025 Kessler-Haak Vineyard PN
Simply the best Kessler-Haak Pinot we’ve ever made. Super rich, plush, and smooth. It’s reminiscent of the late 2000s vintages of Clos Pepe. Big, bold, and full of dark fruits and baking spices. Yummy to the power of 3.

2025 Rancho La Vina Vineyard PN
The kinda of w**e that makes you weak in the knees in a good way. Powerful yet elegant at the same time. Huge aromas and flavors. Sumptuous, velvety, and beguiling. There aren’t enough superlative adjectives to do it justice. Perfect in every way.

2025 SRH Pinot
A blend of Kessler-Haak and Rancho La Vina. Do I need to say any more? So amazingly tasty it’ll melt your face off.

2025 SLH Pinot
This w**e marks the return of Rosella’s and Sierra Mar Vineyards to our line-up. Along with a splash of Rancho La Vina, this is the most anticipated AVA w**e we’ve offered in a while. The pedigree shows though as this is a truly knock-your-socks-off w**e. Back up the truck…

BARREL TASTING!

SATURDAY April 4
Times: 11:00 AM or 2:00 PM

LOCATION : Our W**ery - 308 N. 9th Street, Unit B, Lompoc CA 93436
DURATION : Each session will last about an hour and a half
PRICE : $80 per person, with discounts to w**e club and active mailing list members

Due to limited space, we kindly request that you refrain from bringing pets to the event.

We’ll be offering a very special series of barrel tastings at our w**ery. W**emaker Brian Loring and the incredibly informative and always entertaining W**egrower/W**emaker Wes Hagen will lead the adventure as you taste through an extensive array of barrels.

This is no “one and done” type tasting. You’ll be tasting w**es from the 2025 vintage, including Chardonnay from 3 vineyards, Pinot Noir from 4 vineyards (including clonal comparisons), Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley (also a clonal comparison and a French vs American Oak comparison), and Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot from Santa Ynez. 14 barrels in all. From arguably some of the best vineyards in California, including Sage Ridge (Napa Valley), Rosella’s and Sierra Mar (Santa Lucia Highlands), and Clos Pepe (Sta. Rita Hills). This will be seriously fun!
