Turiya Wines Turiya~ The ultimate state of consciousness wherein reality and truth are harmonious. Tastings by ap This bottle ultimately went down the drain.

How it all came about:

Winemaker and owner Angela Soleno wasn’t always keen on wine, in fact, it took a break-up and a road trip to discover the innate beauty that lies within a glass of the drink of kings. Her first experience was similar to many who have gone to the grocery store and picked something off the shelf based on the label's design and description. Not wanting to waste her time or mon

ey, she vowed never to buy a bottle from the shelf again without knowing the wine personally. Then one night it happened: heartbroken and pensive, she gave wine another try. At a tiny Italian restaurant in Carmel where she cautiously ordered a glass of wine with the help of the sommelier, she found herself enamored with the lively red fluid that she held in her hand. The moment she sipped the luscious liquid an epiphany that she had found love again warmed her from the inside out. This one moment, this one sip, changed her entire life. Angela came back from Carmel with a realization that she had to change jobs to nourish her new passion. She eagerly accepted a job as Project Manager for the highly acclaimed wine producer Consilience Wines in Los Olivos, where her experience and passion for wine grew and eventually encompassed her, leaving her only an inception to create the ultimate wine, soon Angela had scored her first fruit bill and first harvest. Influential winemakers Stephan Asseo from L’Aventure and Eric Jensen of Booker Wines inspired some of Angela’s winemaking methods and desired effects. Angela knew what she wanted her wine to be like and her philosophy was to get as much information as possible from a variety of winemakers as well as gain scientific knowledge. Angela quickly enrolled in the Viticulture and Enology program at Allan Hancock College and began formulating her plan of attack for the first vintage. Aiming for an elegant, food-friendly style of wine, in 2008, Angela decided to select the best fruit available in Santa Barbara County and let the fruit have most of the say-so in the outcome; the fruit did well. As a single mother, student, and full time worker Angela, a few close friends and family members got through the first harvest with a new-found appreciation for winemakers. The time, thought, energy, and care that it takes to create wine proved to be challenging, but also one of the most exciting and rewarding adventures she had ever undertaken. Angela believes that there are too many bottles on the shelf that remind her of that first bad experience with wine. She continues to believe that money, time, and taste buds shall not be wasted on low-quality wines, because we deserve more.

This year marks my 16th year of winemaking! It’s always a labor of love, a lot of passion, patience and hustling!! I’m 44 years young but dang I am starting to move a little slower and I’m definitely not in the same shape I was… that’s my own fault for not hitting the gym. It’s always a good idea to hit the gym pre-harvest to get that strength up but I guess this year the winery is my gym! Looking forward to my post harvest bod. 🤣😅

This is the 2024 Primitivo. 💃🏻🍷

I love to let people wax their own bottles. It’s fun for me to show them how then see how theirs turn out. It’s not as easy as it looks. Come give it a try!
