More than 50 years ago, Richard Sanford recognized the enormous potential of our windswept corner of Santa Barbara County and planted the first Pinot Noir vineyard in what would become the Sta. Rita Hills AVA.

As part of the 25th Anniversary of Wine & Fire, we are honored to invite you to a seat at Richard’s table on Thursday, August 13th at 6:30 PM✨

This is not just a dinner. It’s a historic celebration of a legacy that continues to define this region. Hosted at the spectacular hilltop home of Alma Rosa owners Barb and Bob Zorich, the evening features:
🍷 Rare, exceptional bottles from their private cellars.
🍽️ A multi-course menu by Chef Clark Staub of Full of Life Foods.
✨ An intimate evening shared with Richard and Thekla Sanford, fellow winemakers, and lifelong friends of the region.

Meet our 2026 Honorees! These three remarkable individuals have dedicated decades to shaping the identity, quality, and legacy of our region:

✨ Vintner of the Year: Greg Brewer – A foundational force who co-founded Brewer-Clifton and helped map and establish our AVA back in 1997.

🌱 Farming Leadership Award: Francisco Ramirez – Since 1997, his unmatched expertise and enduring stewardship has made him one of the most respected vineyard managers in the region.

🍇 Cellar Excellence Award: Auggie Rodriguez – His decades of commitment to craftsmanship in the cellar stretches all the way back to the beginning in 1972.

Member Spotlight: Story of Soil ✨

For founder and winemaker Jessica Gasca, wine is not about the person behind the bottle, it’s about the place where it’s grown. Story of Soil was born out of her desire to let the land speak for itself, sharing the distinct narrative of the vintage, the microclimate, and the earth.

Operating as a tiny, intentional operation, Jessica focuses strictly on single-varietal and single-vineyard releases, sourcing from top-tier sites that are farmed with the highest level of care. In the cellar, she keeps lots small and relies on minimal intervention, allowing the fruit to take center stage.

Her approach is rooted in passion and presence, resulting in beautifully balanced, small-batch wines, which are “made in gratitude.”

We’re thrilled to have Jessica and Story of Soil join the SRH Wine Alliance. Be sure to stop by her tasting room in Los Olivos and say hi!

Member Spotlight: Fates’ Lieutenant ✨

For founder and winemaker Jeff Wooledge, a corporate career took a back seat when a 2020 harvest opportunity sparked a new journey. What began as a single adventure grew into an intuitive passion project for cool-climate winemaking and a micro-boutique brand.

Splitting his time between Michigan and Santa Barbara County, Jeff sources exceptional organically and biodynamically farmed grapes from the region’s premier sites. He crafts small-batch wines that emphasize texture and tension, leaning in to the coastal influence that defines them.

As the name implies, Jeff allowed his curiosity to guide his journey and gave into fate.

Member Spotlight: Colluvial Wine ✨

For founder Fernando Fernandez, wine is a journey of precision and place. Colluvial is a name that honors the hill-washed soils in the region that gives his wines their deep, mineral-driven character.

Fernando crafts small-batch, artisanal wines that are truly made in the vineyard. By focusing on some of the best sites and utilizing meticulous winemaking techniques, he ensures the complexity and soul of the fruit are the stars of every bottle.

His wines are produced with an emphasis on purity, balance and ageworthiness, reflecting Fernando’s passion for the world-class terroirs found right here in our backyard.

Tasting experiences are by appointment only so we’re excited to share his small batch wines at our events.

Member Spotlight: MarBeso✨🍷

For winemaker and owner Colin McNany and his wife Hannah, their boutique brand is all about the “sea kiss.” MarBeso pays homage to the ocean’s profound influence on our soil, their style, and their souls.

Based in Los Alamos, the duo crafts wines that accentuate the freshness and verve of the Sta. Rita Hills. In the cellar, Colin keeps things pure, using neutral oak and bottling unfined and unfiltered to let the terroir truly speak for itself.
To highlight this maritime connection, every MarBeso wine notes the exact distance of the vineyard site from the Pacific Ocean right on the bottle.

Visit their website to explore their latest releases and book an appointment to taste with them in person at the winery.
