It was so hot out today and I did so much housekeeping with my supplies and in the apiary. Mom and I drank quite a few of these bad boys full of lemonade. Only 4/7 hives in the photo, and 3 of these are splits. 🍋🏵️🐝

Adopted an apiary from a wonderful older man whose medical situation has rendered him incapable of beekeeping. It started us off with 4 hives so far this year, and after all the splits we're now at 7. I've officially named the current lineup of Queens. Sekhmet, Orion, Flanary, Hermione, Peliades, Brigid, and Athena. The Flanary name is in honor of the original beekeeper's legacy. Mid-summer when I have done more splits and acquired swarms, there will be a second round of naming.

Mentoring my mother-in-law this year. She successfully installed her first package of Caucasians into her beautifully painted 5-frame Langstroth setup. Everything went really well and she's very excited to begin her journey as a Beekeeper. 🐝♥️
