Dear customers,

We want to address a labeling discrepancy that has recently been brought to our attention.

Our tortilla packaging states "12 servings per container | Serving size: 1 tortilla (25g)"

However, our tortillas are portioned by weight. There are no computers or machines counting out 12 tortillas—each package is hand-assembled by our team, who carefully weights stacks of tortillas to meet the approximate net weight of 8 oz (227g).

Because corn is a natural product and the density and moisture content can vary slightly from batch to batch, this has resulted in some packs containing fewer than 12 tortillas. To be clear: our products are priced by weight, so you are always receiving the full amount you are paying for, even when the tortilla count varies slightly.

We understand how this can be confusing, and we truly appreciate those who reached out to bring it to our attention.

THANK YOU to our community for helping us improve. We are aware of this issue and are actively working to resolve it. We are in the process of updating our packaging to more clearly reflect how our tortillas are portioned (this will take a few months). In the meantime, we are increasing the product per pack.

Please note that there may still be some packages in circulation that contain fewer than 12 tortillas; however, all packages are priced by weight, so everyone is still receiving what they paid for.

Thank you for your understanding and your patience as we work to make our packaging more clear.

Here’s another method that Julian uses for redefining the grooves in our volcanic stones: a dremel tool! 🪨

We recently upgraded to this method, but Julian still likes the hammer + chisel method as well. (see previous reel) 🔨

We are so proud of him for mastering both of these techniques! 👏

A little volcanic stone carving ASMR 🪨🌋

These volcanic stones, inported from Mexico, are what we use to grind our nixtamalized corn. The grooves are key to creating the perfect texture for our masa!

To keep the stones performing at their best, Julian regularly redefines the grooves. This method only requires a hammer and a chisel, along with a meticulous eye for detail! ✨

We grind our corn on volcanic stones imported from Mexico. 🌋

See those grooves? They’re essential to creating the smooth, rich texture of our masa. Julian regularly redefines them by hand with a chisel, a craft he learned by visiting tortillerias throughout Mexico.

In addition to giving our masa its beautiful texture, these stones also introduce trace minerals and a subtle, earthy flavor that modern industrial machines simply can’t replicate. 💛

We often hear customers say that our tortillas “taste like Mexico”—and that’s what you get when tortillas are made the traditional way! 🙌
