Last night I had quite a birthday surprise! Ed opened a drawer and somehow this little possum had found a hole in the floor under the cabinets and made itself at home 😬 So of course, I grabbed a towel, snatched it up and took it to the opposite end of the property 🤷🏻‍♀️ Looks like we will be finding that hole and patching it up 😂 At least this time I know the cat didn’t bring it in 🤦‍♀️

It’s been a minute, but I’ve been busy… From getting prepped for breeding season to the American Emu Association convention (Emu-Con), I’ve been tapped. Here are a few of my favorite photos at the farm over the past month or so including our newest addition, Sadie the Great Pyrenees. She’s 9 years old and is retiring from her large farm to our much smaller operation. She has been a wonderful addition to our little world and is the sweetest pup from the moment she stepped into our van to head home with us. An absolute beautiful soul. thank you Brats of the World for trusting us with your granny GP. We have fallen in love and she won’t be going anywhere from here until she crosses the rainbow bridge 🥰

Learned something really important tonight as I was investigating potential dairy cross contamination in sugar… We have a small get together tomorrow and wanted to make something to share, but food allergies are involved. This is also something the comes into play hard core in the Alpha Gal community due to bone char being used in the sugars.

The one on the left is NOT safe for dairy or mammal byproduct allergies. The one on the right is safe for both. It’s crazy how much bs is hidden in our “foods”. I’ve been saying as much for a long time, but until the folks in my world really were truly affected by it, I only “said and thought” instead of taking the time to truly KNOW.

Both say organic, the one on the left even touts “dairy free”, but upon closer inspection it also says on the back that it was made in a facility where cross contamination can occur. 😑

Pay close attention to what’s in your food, folks. Real, whole and true foods are not as easy to obtain in the grocery as they are from your local farmer. Always read the labels, the ingredients and the disclaimers.
