Sometimes the best reason to check out a brewery is simply that there’s a new one in the neighborhood. 🍺

Smog City Heights gave us exactly what we were hoping for — a neighborhood taproom, familiar Smog City b**r, and another good reason to spend an afternoon in Long Beach.

We’ll drink to that.

Others become part of your neighborhood.

Ten Mile has always felt like the second kind — the sort of place where the b**r matters, but so do the people pouring it, drinking it, and coming back again.

That’s a pretty good reason to keep a local brewery in the rotation. 🍺

We stopped at Espaço 77 in Porto for a €2.50 bifana. That was the plan, anyway. 🥪

The sandwich was worth the stop on its own. Then we discovered the €0.95 Super Bock minis, and our quick bite turned into several rounds and a shot of bagaço—the spirit we’d learned about on our Douro tour.

Sometimes the best travel plans start with “let’s just grab a bite.”

Green Cheek was one of those — good b**r, good people, and eventually The Elovaters taking the stage. 🍺🎶

We stopped into Catraio Craft B**r Shop in Porto for a b**r and found someone who clearly runs the place. 🐈🍺

There’s a wide-ranging draft list, sidewalk tables for watching Porto go by, and a cat who has claimed the counter as its own. It’s exactly the kind of stop we love finding when we explore a city through its b**r scene.

Porto, you’ve been good to us. Saúde! 🇵🇹

Two people. Same brewery. Different favorites. 🍺
Jim went for Juicebox Hero — an 8% DDH Hazy IPA that was good enough to order twice.
Chris kept coming back to 1 Year Takeover IPA — a 6.5% West Coast IPA brewed for Steady’s first anniversary under its current ownership.
So now we’re settling this the only reasonable way:

First pour in Portugal. 🇵🇹🍺

A cold MUSA b**r, good friends and a Porto sunset over the Douro—one of those evenings when everything comes together.

We really were only stopping in for one b**r. 🍺
Steady Brewing had just celebrated its first anniversary under its current ownership, so we stopped by to raise a glass with our friend Dan.
Then we met a couple of strangers on bikes. Started talking about music. Sara showed up for work. More b**rs were ordered.
Four hours later…we finally left. 😂
Along the way, we worked through six very different Steady b**rs — from a 3.9% light l***r to an 8% DDH hazy IPA — and found plenty we'd happily order again.
