We have never claimed to be associated or to represent any indigenous , nations, tribes or people. But, that does not mean we cannot promote the indigenous foods of what some call Turtle Island.
Chef Paul Buchanan, along with Chef John Sharpe, created menus back in 1998 to highlight the celebrations of some of the indigenous tribes across the North America. At Bowers Cultural Museum they held family style Feasts under the summer full moons.
Last year Primal Alchemy continued this series of dinners. The first was focused on the California Coast and the second on the Southwest.
This past month we created a menu around the foods of the people of the plains and prairies. Bison from Diamond Mountain Ranch was highlighted along with Fig Leaf wrapped lake fish, rabbit, plums, dandelions and wild rice.
We are grateful to share this wholesome food with others and later this month we continue our Feasts of the summer moon with the Cedar Salmon Potlatch focused on the people of the Northwest Pacific Coast.
Please join us on Sunday, August 30th at Rancho Los Alamitos.
