Today we are taking a moment to reflect on a piece of brewing history that often goes untold.
Did you know that long before the relatively recent craft beer movement, brewing traditions flourished throughout Africa, and Black Americans played an important role in the history of beer in this country?
Juneteenth is a day to celebrate freedom, honor resilience, and acknowledge the stories that have shaped our communities. It's also an opportunity to learn more about the people whose work, creativity, and craftsmanship helped build the industries and traditions we enjoy today. We've included some articles/podcasts in the comments below to help us all become better informed!
At 300 Suns, we believe beer is about bringing people together, sharing stories, and building community. Today, we raise a glass to Black history, Black brewers, and the ongoing work of creating a more welcoming and inclusive craft beer community.
