Last cookout of the summer. 🇺🇸🔥
Well, this was the last cookout of the summer at our home as we celebrated my daughter’s birthday, and with Labor Day just a few days away, that unofficially marks the end of summer.
We went out with a bang and had around 30 people over. Let’s face it, hosting a large group is a TON of work, and having the right tools makes a huge difference.
That’s where the versatility of the Drip EZ Prep Tubs really takes the spotlight. They’re great for carrying all your BBQ gear — seasonings, gloves, thermometer, lighter, fire starters, etc. — and they have a built-in cutting board.
I used the XL Prep Tub to trim two Prime briskets from Costco . The expanding sides kept all of my seasoning contained while I gave them a heavy dusting of Blazing Star BBQ Beef.
I also prepped and seasoned two pork butts in the Original Prep Tub with Blazing Star BBQ Pork’n.
I fueled the Myron Mixon Smokers MMS48 H2O and Spider Grills Huntsman with Jealous Devil Chunx Lump Charcoal and hickory wood.
The briskets went on the MMS48 at 275°, while the pork butts smoked on the Huntsman at 225°.
I also put the Jr Prep Tub to work slicing red onions and catching any spills when I added my pickling liquid.
I rested the briskets overnight in a warming box along with the pulled pork, while the onions pickled in the fridge.
The next day, I seasoned 12 lbs of party wings in the Original Prep Tub with TFTI.BBQ 𝙏𝙁𝙏𝙄 𝘽𝘽𝙌 𝙎𝙃𝙊𝙋 Spicy Garlicky Cajun Honey Rub, then added a dusting of cornstarch to help get them nice and crispy in the Yoder Smokers YS640 set to 400°.
I also added some ice to a Jr Prep Tub and dropped in two Secondz Containers for the coleslaw and pickled onions.
The food came out great, and everyone had a great time!
While I definitely enjoyed the summer, fall is my favorite time of year. 🍂🏈
