Meet Your Farmer Pt.4 - Blake (Waterbending Master) 🌧☄️🔧
Even though Blake is officially our Irrigation Specialist, in reality he is the farm’s jack of all trades. Originally from Florida, Blake moved to Colorado in 2016 and came down the slopes of Steamboat this spring to lend Kilt Farm his mechanical hands on skills, as well as to begin his education in agriculture.
While new to farming, Blake is a nature lover and enjoys working with his hands. When not out hiking in the mountains or snowboarding, he tends to the garden he built at home where he applies what he learns at the farm. However, it was his interest in independent, sustainable living that set him on the farming path.
If you came to visit the farm, it might seem as if Blake is in multiple places at once! He’s constantly bouncing around managing the various forms of irrigation we employ such as drip tape, sprinklers, and flood irrigation. His previous experience and natural aptitude as a mechanic keeps him busy maintaining Kilt Farm’s field vehicles and machinery. Plus if you are a CSA member, you might see Blake dropping off your box at one of the many pickup sites we have around Boulder County as well. Blake is an integral piece of the Kilt Farm machine!
