Colorado produce farmers care deeply about their employees—their livelihoods depend on them. But current overtime laws are having unintended consequences that are hurting both farms and farmworkers.

After the Ag Labor Rights and Responsibilities Act (ALRRA) passed in 2021, many farms simply couldn’t afford the mandated overtime. The result? Reduced hours and, for many workers, lower weekly pay. Studies from states like California show similar outcomes—workers lost an average of $100 per week after overtime rules took effect.

Colorado is now one of only six states requiring ag overtime, putting our farmers at a serious disadvantage compared to other states. Unlike places like California or Oregon, Colorado only has one growing season—making these added costs even harder to absorb.

At the same time, farms are facing rising input costs, more regulations, and stagnant produce prices. The reality is sobering:

• Two-thirds of Colorado farms are operating at a loss
• Nearly 3,000 farms and 1.6 million acres were lost between 2017–2022
• The U.S. is now importing more food than it exports

If we want to keep local food, local farms, and local jobs, we need balanced policies that actually work.

👉 Please take a moment to contact your legislators and ask them to support a workable solution on SB26-121.

This is it — the FINAL hearing.

Now it all comes down to this Thursday.
We urgently need your voice.

Boulder County’s proposed minimum wage ordinance will raise the local minimum wage to **$25/hour by 2030** — an 83% increase over current rates.

Here’s how it rises year by year:
💰 2023 – $13.65
💰 2024 – $15.69
💰 2025 – $16.57
💰 2026 – $17.99
💰 2027 – $19.53
💰 2028 – $21.21
💰 2029 – $23.03
💰 2030 – $25.00

This applies only to **businesses in unincorporated Boulder County** — meaning small, family-run farms like **Full Circle Farms (& Others!)** will face sharp cost increases, while large corporations inside city limits won’t.

We proudly provide:
🌻 Local jobs & first time work opportunities for teens
🎃 Family-friendly fall traditions for our community
🌱 Fresh, local food grown with care

But with this ordinance, **we won’t survive**.
We support fair wages — but this plan isn’t sustainable for small farms.

🚨 Urgent Call to Action in Support of Local Farms! 🚨

Hello friends of Full Circle Farms,

We need your help. Boulder County Commissioners have rolled out a minimum wage mandate that applies only to businesses in unincorporated Boulder County — meaning local family farms and businesses like ours will be hit hard, while business inside incorporated Boulder County city limits (such as Walmart, Target, etc.) won’t be affected.

👉 Read the County’s release here: https://bouldercounty.gov/news/minimum-wage-to-rise-to-25-hour-by-2030-in-unincorporated-boulder-county/

Here’s the reality: if Boulder County loses its local farms (including us!), they won’t come back. The land might remain, but the farmers, the equipment, and the community that connects it all will be gone. Your favorite farmers, pumpkin patches, and farm stands could disappear forever.

We’re not asking to avoid fair pay — we’re asking for a fair solution that protects both workers and farms so local agriculture can survive.

💚 Your voice can make the difference.
It takes less than 30 seconds to send a message that could help save Boulder County’s farms and local family run businesses like ours!
