Five years ago, we bought 31 acres without knowing how to farm. We thought the land would teach us how to grow food. Instead, it taught us how to pay attention.
To observe before acting. Work with what’s already there. Value diversity. Waste less. Go slow. Adapt when things change.
In other words, we started learning permaculture.
Over time, we realized its 12 principles weren’t just about caring for the land. They had something to teach us about caring for our lives, too.
That idea became "The Sweet Earth Orchard Reflection Journal: Twelve Permaculture Principles for the Design of a Life."
It’s a free journal filled with lessons from the land and questions for reflection—no right answers, just space to reconnect, get grounded, and notice what might be ready to shift.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll share all 12 principles here.
Or you can explore them at your own pace through the journal- comment "journal" for your download.
Maybe the land has something to teach all of us. 🌱
