We’re still in shock!!!
Back in March, two North American Yerba Mate Ambassadors, Sharon (The Mate Experience) and Carolina (Caro Sel), reached out and asked if we’d be interested in entering the first-ever World Yerba Mate Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Our first reaction was simple:
“No way.”
We figured there was no chance a small company from Washington State could compete against some of the biggest names in the yerba mate world.
Thankfully, with a little encouragement, we decided to send three blends for judging:
Traditional Yerba Mate
Mint Blend
Guayusa Blend
Honestly, our goal wasn’t to win. We were hoping for professional feedback and maybe, if we were lucky, a participation ribbon.
So we shipped our samples to the ambassadors and got back to business as usual.
Then this week we received the results.
Traditional Blend won a Gold Medal.
Mint Blend won a Silver Medal.
Guayusa Blend won a Bronze Medal.
All three entries. All three medal winners.
We’re still trying to wrap our heads around it.
To have our blends recognized on an international stage by some of the most experienced palates in the yerba mate world is an incredible honor.
