It’s time to shout out the best emotional support sister, Flo šŸ‘
Fig is not the world’s biggest fan of change, so she’s not super eager to leave the farm for shows. But what helps all of us in new environments, a best friend/sister! Flo is just as her name says, she goes with the Flo and is very chill (despite what the picture we took yesterday in the rain says šŸ˜‚). She’s the perfect emotional support buddy for Fig!

So while Flo has not had the best show season, she has joined us at every show to be Fig’s biggest fan.

Flo was a quad and a tiny kid, so we did not breed her as a kid. Then unfortunately, she didn’t get bred as a yearling. Most goats that would be the end of the line, but she was too pretty for me to give up on. So I gave her one more chance! Luckily, she got bred this year! šŸŽ‰ but the extra weight and smaller udder really hurt her in shows. However, I think another freshening will do wonders for Flo and will give her a chance! Fingers crossed for another successful breedingšŸ¤ž

Saturday was incredible! Not only was Fig selected as Champion Alpine for the 3rd time this year (which means she is now a permanent champion šŸ„³šŸŽ‰), she was also selected as Best of Breed and Best Senior Doe in Show!

That is a huge first for not only Fig, but also our farm! Just a year ago, an award like this seemed so far away and we are feeling so blessed to be where we are today!

A huge thank you and congratulations to the amazing Caprine Collective on running an incredible show! They had a massive turnout and handled it all like pros! It truly was an amazing and fun show!

Also thank you to Garrett Moorse for selling us a bred Fauna 5 years ago that resulted in our wonderful Fig ā¤ļø A few years ago I said I wish I had a barn full of Faunas because of how easy going and beautiful she was. Today Fauna’s daughters are the majority of our alpine herd (along with Fiona’s descendants as well) and were first place produce of dam at the MN State Fair ā¤ļø

Now show season has come to an end and we look forward to breeding season! Cooper walked out of one of his rings with lots of breeding ideas. A spectator laughed and said oh wow he’s got lots of breeding plans. I told them they only knew the half of it! šŸ˜‚

We had an amazing weekend at the Bluff Country Dairy Goat Show and I want to first highlight Cooper and Charlie ā¤ļø This weekend Cooper earned his first ever ADGA ribbon with his very own Charlie when she was selected as the Reserve Champion Recorded Grade out of 38 goats!

This sweet girl caught my eye the moment she was born (had body capacity from birth) and we are very eager to watch her and her twin as they grow! Pretty exciting that his first ribbon came on a second generation bred and owned doe (granddaughter to his first doe Tootie)! I loved his excitement when he got to sign the champion papers as the owner!

Congrats Cooper and Charlie!

This weekend was incredible! Our girl, Fig, was selected as the Grand Champion Alpine of the Minnesota State Fair!

Fig was the first alpine born on our farm and has been my buddy ever since. She’s always been reliable and snuggleable, but this year she really bloomed into the goat she was meant to be. I hoped and dreamed that she’d win this award as the state fair neared, but I never thought it was actually attainable.

Thank you to everyone that helped us this weekend and for all the kind words (made me tear up more than once)! We feel very, very blessed!

I am so incredibly proud of my talented husband for starting his own business, New Frontier Exteriors! If you need a new deck, siding, roofing, windows, or more, please check out his new business!
If you’ve visited the farm, you have seen his handy work on the beautiful steel roof he put on our barn and those beautiful stairs he built to our loft!

We are so incredibly proud of our girl Fig ā¤ļø yesterday at the Best of the Midwest dairy goat show, Fig was selected as grand champion in a competitive open Alpine show! She also was selected as the reserve champion by another judge!

She is our farm’s first goat to win those honors and we couldn’t be more proud of her. Not only is Fig gorgeous (I mean look at her!), she’s the total package. She’s easily my kids favorite because of how sweet and silly she is, even rocked wearing a saddle, horse ears and tail for the costume contest on Saturday! She also produces so much milk, filling our bucket daily!

We are excited to see what else this year has in store for our Fig Newton ā¤ļø

How we feel about the weather changes over the past week 😠

Luckily, we appear to have made it all through the storm and 18 inches of snow. We have one heifer that is close to calving so we brought her in the barn on Saturday. I told Nick that if we left her outside, she’d calve in the storm, but if we brought her in, she wouldn’t calve at all. lol I was right. Still on baby watch!

We are really looking forward to warm up headed our way, but not looking forward to the mud that this snow is going to make 😬 I really wish Mother Nature would pick a season and stick to it lol

In other news, this is Furball, our fluffiest and most beautiful cat, but as you can tell from his expression, he’s not too found of attention. However, we are slowly winning him over, by helping work out some of his mats. Come spring, he will need a lion cut, but for now we are helping the beautiful man out, one mat at a time.
