Well guys. The farm stand is officially closed, signs come down today.
The last 5 years have been fun. I met new neighbors, my eggs traveled the country between your families, I had the opportunity to make sourdough for your Easter and Christmas dinners.
Since our winter slow down (happens every year, we live in a resort community) we never picked back up. Our spring influx never arrived. I’ve been donating eggs to local food banks weekly due to the overstock. With the rising costs of feed and cartons, I can no longer justify keeping my flocks just to donate their eggs.
This week I listed my laying chickens and ducks. They will all be gone by Sunday. I suppose it’s time for me to move onto whatever is next in my path.
Thank you to those who supported my silly goals, I appreciate you all so much and I’ll miss seeing your faces while you came to shop my little stand.
