🏢 100 Years of Broadway Building: The Spitzer Renaissance Era!

💯 As we continue to celebrate Centennial of the Broadway Building at Ariel Broadway Hotel, standing at the corner of Erie and Broadway, we love discovering photographs that capture different moments in its long history.

📸 A photograph of the Broadway Building on a cool autumn night. Several cars are visible on the left of the photo, traveling west on East Erie Avenue. The building glows with lights, a beacon at the Loop just as it had been for over six decades.

👉 By 1989, the building had already served Lorain for 63 years. It had been home to a popular bowling alley, an upscale restaurant, and various government agencies throughout the mid-20th century. Now, as the Spitzer Renaissance Hotel, it continued its legacy as a gathering place, welcoming visitors and locals alike to this historic corner.

👀 Today, that same building is our home, the Ariel Broadway Hotel, Broadway Grill & Games, The Anchor Lorain, Lolipop's Gift Shop, Main Street Lorain Development/ Lorain Growth Skinwork Bar, Devoted Homecare Lorain and Beauty by Viv (Viviana Lopez) a period of vacancy and a meticulous restoration, it was reborn, earning a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 and continuing to serve as a cornerstone of downtown Lorain.

🎈 As we mark 100 years since this building first opened its doors, we celebrate every chapter, including the Spitzer Renaissance era of 1989. Each decade has added a new layer to its story, and we're honored to be part of its next century.

🎈As we celebrate 100 years of the Broadway Building standing tall at the corner of Erie and Broadway, we love finding vintage photographs that transport us back in time. This incredible image does exactly that.

📸 This photo shows a view of Broadway Avenue looking south from North Broadway Avenue at the intersection of West Erie Avenue the "Loop" area. The photograph was taken during the daytime, with significant traffic and pedestrians visible on the street. Buses can be seen at the lower right of the photo, parked at the curb on North Broadway Avenue.

💪 In the 1930s, the Broadway Building was still relatively new constructed just a few years earlier in 1926. Yet it was already a dominant feature of the Lorain skyline, its Beaux-Arts architecture a familiar sight to everyone who passed through the Loop.

🥳 Today, that same building is our home to the Ariel Broadway Hotel, Broadway Grill & Games, The Anchor Lorain, Lolipop's Gift Shop, Main Street Lorain Development/ Lorain Growth, Skinwork Bar, Devoted Homecare Lorain and Beauty by VIV Salon and Spa Viviana Lopez. As you can see our building's historic soul remains. As we mark 100 years since the Broadway Building first opened its doors, we honor every decade, every tenant, and every visitor who has passed through. From government offices and bowling alleys to fine dining and hotel guests, this landmark has witnessed it all.
