Update:

She had a broken tooth and hay/feed packed in her cheek. Cleaned out packed feed and floated her teeth to remove sharp edges.

My oldest cow and best mama has this bump on her jaw. It is not squishy, but comes and goes. It doesn’t affect her ability to eat. I take her to the vet on Tuesday to get it checked out, but wanted to know if anyone else has seen this type of thing.

Update:
The necropsy came back with no identifiable reason for calf being aborted. Vet seems to think it was some trauma that caused it. We are thinking the New Years Eve celebrations by people in the area may have stressed her or she ran into something in the pasture. Cow is back to normal, so will try again this summer.

Our 3 year old first time mama aborted her calf yesterday at 6 months. Fetus appeared normal and will be taking it to the vet tomorrow to find out what happened. Mama seems to be doing ok, but has a little floppy hang down on her belly. Is this normal after losing a calf (or first pre-birth loss)?

***Wanted to update everyone. Our cameras caught the time that she ended up in the trough that morning. She got her head stuck in the fence at about 740am and she ended up in the trough at 820am. I didn't find her and free her until about 1245! Over 4 hours in the trough!!
She seems to be ok besides being very sore.

I work midnights and woke up at noon to this!
Her head was wedged in the fence and I cut the fence to get her out. I had to dump her out of the feed trough. She was unsteady and weak, but strong enough to try and skewer me on the way by.
She is up and walking around.
Hope the calf she is carrying makes it.

MBF El Diego at a little over a month old. Very curious and begin to understand how great scratches feel. Was all about sniffing my face and trying to eat my shoe laces.
