Sette’s Kitchen & Catering recently catered a promotion reception celebrating a Lieutenant Colonel’s promotion to Colonel—the distinguished “full bird” rank. Reaching Colonel represents years of leadership, service, and dedication, making celebrations like this especially meaningful to us.

Our menu featured BBQ chicken wings, BBQ meatballs, mini chicken quesadillas, herb-baked salmon, shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta, green beans, rice, sweet corn on the cob, and dinner rolls. 🍽️

The beautiful cake and specialty cookies pictured were provided by another talented baker. They are not Sette’s Kitchen creations, but we’re happy to share their information by DM.

These custom treats were designed in a refined white, ch*****ne, and gold palette and included chocolate-covered strawberries, Oreos, pretzel rods, madeleines, and Rice Krispies treats—each styled to complement the elegance of the occasion.

Special kudos to our amazing custom treats maker, who consistently brings our vision to life! From the beautiful detailing to the flawless presentation, she understood the assignment.

We recently had the honor and privilege of catering the retirement celebration of a U.S. Army Brigadier General at the beautiful and historic Fort McNair in Washington, D.C.

A military retirement celebrates so much more than one person’s career. It also honors the family who served alongside them—the spouses and children who weathered deployments, long days, missed holidays and milestones, moves across the country and around the world, and the countless sacrifices that come with a life of military service. Decades of service represent a journey shared by the entire family.

This celebration was especially meaningful as we honored both a remarkable career and a piece of history. The retiree is one of the few African American officers to have reached the General Officer ranks within the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, whose history dates back to 1775. To have the opportunity to serve a trailblazer as he closed this chapter of an extraordinary career was truly an honor.

As a Veteran-owned business, there was something especially meaningful about being trusted to serve a fellow Soldier and his family on such a significant occasion.

As we approach three years in business this September, we’re taking a moment to simply say thank you.

What started as a dream has grown into something we could have never imagined, and it’s because of each of you. Whether you’ve trusted us to cater your event, recommended us to a friend, shared one of our posts, or simply cheered us on from afar—you’ve helped build Sette’s Kitchen & Catering into what it is today.

We recently had the honor of catering a Classic Grazing Table for the retirement celebration of Ambassador W. Patrick Murphy at the National War College in Washington, DC, serving more than 100 guests.

Ambassador Murphy served as the Deputy Commandant and International Affairs Advisor at the National War College following a distinguished career in the U.S. Foreign Service, including service as the U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia. It was a privilege to help celebrate such an accomplished career and remarkable legacy of service.

With approximately six hours of preparation and two hours of on-site assembly, these events require significant effort—but seeing the joy on our clients’ faces and watching guests gather around the table makes every minute worthwhile.

We are incredibly proud of the beautiful work our team delivered. While our owner was away, the staff once again demonstrated the professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail that define Sette’s Kitchen & Catering. Seeing them execute these edible works of art independently is always rewarding—not because it is unexpected, but because it reflects the commitment, culture, consistency, and standards we practice every day.

In any industry, empowering your team and trusting them to lead is essential. When people are given ownership and supported with the right tools, they rise to the occasion—and that success becomes the success of the entire organization.
