Growing up, the Bubert family didn't have steak very often. A steak dinner was reserved for special occasions.
That changed when my parents purchased Franz's Gourmet Meats, which they soon renamed Dittmer’s Gourmet Meats & Wurst-Haus. In those early days, business was slow, and my father had a simple rule: nothing would go to waste. As a result, we found ourselves having what we jokingly called "steak again" dinners night after night.
A few months later, as the customer base grew and the business became successful, those frequent steak dinners came to an end. Steaks once again became something special—saved for celebrations, milestones, and family gatherings.
This Father's Day, I'm reminded of my dad's hard work, determination, and commitment to building a business that would serve our community for generations. What felt ordinary back then became a lesson in perseverance, sacrifice, and appreciation.
Today, we're proud to help families create their own special memories around the dinner table.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads who work hard, lead by example, and make every meal a little more meaningful.

A family business is more than a name on a sign—it’s a legacy.

My father, Dittmer Bubert, built Dittmer’s with hard work, pride, and a commitment to quality that became part of our family’s identity. I had the privilege of learning from him and working alongside him, and I am honored to continue what he started.

Today, Dittmer’s remains family-owned and family-operated. Our commitment to the recipes, traditions, quality, and customer service that have defined us for generations remains as strong as ever.
