You’re drinking tequila wrong. It’s not your fault! The big tequila brands have conditioned us to drink it a certain way so it covers up all the crap they put in it. Here are the 6 things you’re doing wrong…

1️⃣ You’re shooting it. So fast you can’t taste anything but the burn.
2️⃣ Wrong glass. A shot glass gives the aroma nowhere to go, and most of what you taste is what you smell.
3️⃣ Lime and salt exist to cover something up. If you need them, it’s the bottle.
4️⃣ It was in the freezer. Cold shuts down the agave, the pepper, the citrus — everything you paid for.
5️⃣ You drank it in four seconds. It never opened up.
6️⃣ That burn every time? One small thing with your breath causes the whole thing.

Stay tuned for part two where I show you how to drink it the right way.

Overrated tequilas that are popular vs underrated that are less well known but way better.

OVERRATED ❌
Cazadores — fine. Fine is the ceiling.
Casamigos — smooth the way a milkshake is smooth.
Don Julio — genuinely fine. You’re paying a marketing budget.
Clase Azul — that’s pottery. Gorgeous pottery.

UNDERRATED ✅
Partida ($35.99) — additive-free, and CHEAPER than every bottle above it. Tequila’s best kept secret.
Tapatío ($39.99) — additive-free. What bartenders buy for themselves.
Don Fulano ($49.99) — family-owned, additive-free. The añejo will ruin expensive tequila for you.
Tierra de Ensueño ($64.99) — nobody’s talking about it and I don’t know why.
Torrente ($89.99) — world’s first certified regenerative tequila. Third-party verified farming.

The best kept secret in tequila is $36. The reason you’ve never heard of it is that they never spent a dollar telling you.

Partida. Named for Enrique Partida — a third-generation agave farmer and a master in his community.

Agave from the Tequila Valley beside a dormant volcano — red volcanic soil, which is why it tastes mineral and earthy instead of just sweet

•7–10 years in the ground, ~100 lbs at harvest, cut by hand by jimadors

•Slow natural fermentation, twice distilled in small traditional pot stills
— not a column, not a diffuser

•Reposado rests 6 months in actual Jack Daniel’s barrels. Añejo goes 18 months in the same. Vanilla, caramel, cherry, almond, chocolate.

Blanco $35.99 · Reposado $42.99 · Añejo $49.99 — all additive-free.

The pros know. That’s why it’s a secret.

Your tequila is 60% WATER. Nobody talks about it. It’s the reason your favorite bottle tastes like your favorite bottle.
Tequila’s bottled at 40% ABV. 60% of what’s in the bottle is pure water. And most brands are using municipal water — filtered, neutralized, no character.
But the great ones obsess over their water source. Because water shapes mouthfeel, mineral profile, and how the agave lands on your tongue.
3 examples:
💧 G4 — Felipe Camarena LITERALLY collects rainwater and uses deep-well water from his own land at El Pandillo. Additive-free.
💧 Fortaleza — natural spring water from the family estate in Tequila, Jalisco. Same spring for over a century. Additive-free.
💧 Tequila Ocho — single-rancho, single-vintage, single-water-source. Every vintage tastes different because the water is different.
Comment “water” for the full list of tequilas that actually talk about their source. It’s a short list.

This might be a controversial opinion. Maybe the alcohol industry isn’t dying just because people aren’t drinking anymore. Maybe there are multiple factors… Including the affordability factor. While yes, perhaps consumption has dipped a bit, but could it be because it is so expensive to go out for a drink nowadays? Are people just opting to drink at home? There are multiple factors, including the fact that a cocktail is no longer affordable to most people under the age of 25.

And no dis to any bar or restaurant. I love and support my local bars and restaurants and I encourage all people to do the same. I also know that inflation has caused rent, wages, just overall cost to go up for these businesses. I am not faulting these businesses for charging $30 for a Cocktail. I am simply saying this could be one factor contributing to the decline in alcohol consumption. What are your thoughts?

Is the entire spirits and w**e industry on the verge of mass disruption? Which brands will win? **e

I would rather drink water then drink bad tequila. Here’s a list of three tequilas I would never drink and why.

Instead of drinking tequila is full of additives that are mass produced. Four tequilas that are small batch authentically made, and additive free. Here are some of my favorites.

Partida Tequila - small batch, made the authentic way, using mature agaves and natural fermentation methods.

El Tesoro - made the traditional, additive-free. Bright, citrusy and agave forward.

G4 - this has been made for generations at one of the best tequila distilleries. Great for sipping and mixing.

Comment Tequila for the full list.

Tequila Partida is made with just two ingredients! While most other tequilas are made with three ingredients – agave yeast and water, Partida is made with only two ingredients, water and agave. How did they do it? They use spontaneous fermentation, meaning the yeast is derived directly from the natural fermentation process no foreign yeast is added during fermentation.

The result is a more complex, delicious flavor that allows agave to shine.

I also love that Partida is under $40 and does not compromise on process or flavor.

This Teqyila just won the best new tequila at the San Francisco Spirits Award competition. One of the most converted spirits awards!

it’s the Torrente high proof additive free Tequila. This Tequila is one of the first regenerative tequilas in the world and the quality, the process, and the flavor exception.

commment Torrente for more info!
