Farmers sometimes put earmuffs on baby cows during the winter to help protect their ears from frostbite. Because newborn calves are smaller and more vulnerable to the cold, they need a little extra help staying warm during harsh winter weather. ๐Ÿฎ

These two handsome boys had their vet visit and health check (and had to get their ears tagged ๐Ÿฅบ) for their move to their new farm in Tennessee ๐Ÿ˜ So happy to be sending them as a pair and, although they are both basically weaning age, their new owners will be keeping them on a bottle for a bit which should help their transition immensely ๐Ÿฅฐ One more week to love on these two - they are both such sweethearts โค๏ธ

Good morning everyone ๐Ÿค

A little update on our newest tiny little girlโ€ฆ and a little more of her story. ๐Ÿฅน

We got this baby from a dairy. There were other calves there to choose from, but this little girl immediately stuck out to us.

And if you know usโ€ฆ you know why. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿค

She wasnโ€™t the biggest. She wasnโ€™t the strongest looking. She was this tiny, puny little thing that looked like she could use someone in her corner. Iโ€™m not even joking when I say she might weigh 20โ€“30 pounds. She is SO small. ๐Ÿฅบ

Was she probably the โ€œbestโ€ calf to choose? Maybe not.

But was she the calf that pulled at our hearts? Absolutely.

You guys know how we are. We somehow always find the ones that need a little extra love, a little extra care, and someone willing to give them a chance. Sometimes in the cattle world, the tiny ones and the ones who need extra donโ€™t always get that. So we chose the baby that we felt needed us. ๐Ÿค

As for mama Aggieโ€ฆ we are taking it slow.

This baby is not a replacement for Clovie. Nobody could ever replace our sweet girl. ๐Ÿ€ We would never force Agnus to just move on or pretend her baby wasnโ€™t one of a kind.

If Aggie accepts her, that would be beautiful. If she doesnโ€™t, thatโ€™s okay too. We will bottle feed this little girl and she will still have a place here with us. ๐Ÿค

She did let her nurse a little this morning, and Aggie hasnโ€™t been crying nearly as much todayโ€ฆ and honestly that alone makes my heart feel a little lighter. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

So far our tiny little funny-looking girl is doing good. She may actually be the goofiest looking calf Iโ€™ve ever seen in my life ๐Ÿคฃ but sheโ€™s got a whole lot of personality packed into that tiny body.

Nowโ€ฆ she needs a name. ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿค
