Time is a luxury. Mg last day in NYC this week I took an Uber to the airport and was reminded of that.

This man, a native New Yorker, talked my ear off the entire drive. He told me everything there was to know about his two kids and his wife 🥹 He said, “I literally do everything for them. I barely sleep, barely see them, because if I’m not out driving them I’m not making money for them. I don’t care about myself, I just want my wife to feel beautiful and my children to feel safe. But I don’t see them enough. My daughter has a game today and she was upset that I couldn’t go, but I have to make sure they are taken care of.” How beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time?

So I asked him if he sets an amount of time he drives for the day or a money goal. And he told me he can’t make less than $250.

We pulled up to the airport, and I took the rest of the cash I had on me, which was $500 and I gave it to him and said, “you should go to your daughters game”.

He told me that I didn’t understand how much that would mean to her, and then he told me he was going to get his wife to follow me and buy my book 😂😂😂

Anyway, I hope they had a good weekend as a family. People who work that hard deserve a break. But it was a great reminder to me to pay attention to my time spent as well 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
