Saiteaux Absinthe Saiteaux Absinthe Botanical Soda is a non-alcoholic beverage reminiscent of the original Absinthe first created in the early 1800's

SAITEAUX Absinthe Botanical Soda and cocktail infuser is a non-alcoholic beverage made with the traditional “holy trinity” of botanicals which is the base flavoring of the original absinthe first made in the early 1800’s. The “holy trinity” of botanicals used in the original absinthe are grande wormwood, sweet fennel and green anise. Other herbs & spices used are a distiller’s preference accordin

g to their taste and flavor profile desired in the final product. A few examples of the other botanicals producers have added to enhance the flavors are melisa, star anise, licorice, angelica, peppermint and lemon balm. Like Coca-Cola, absinthe was first used as a medicinal beverage helping to prevent many ailments from malaria and indigestion to intestinal parasites and gall bladder inflammation. SAITEAUX Absinthe Botanical Soda can be enjoyed chilled as a refreshing carbonated beverage or as a cocktail infuser, adding a beloved-unique flavor and effervesce to your favorite drinks and cocktails. Since the laws regarding Absinthe were repealed in the 1990’s there has been a revival and the interest has sparked a modern resurgence in absinthe's popularity. There are now over 200 brands, throughout Europe, being produced. While living in Paris and traveling throughout Europe, SAITEAUX'S master chefs developed their tastes, interests, curiosities and love for Absinthe. Not only for its delicious taste but the ritual of serving absinthe and her intriguing history. From the beginning absinthe was securing her place in the hearts of millions. Beloved by celebrities of the day, some of absinthe’s famous devotees were Van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, Charles Baudelaire, Picasso, Manet, Degas and Hemingway. Absinthe was believed to unlock creative powers and heighten your senses of sight, smell, and eventually, taste. Absinthe was first created, loved, demonized, criminalized and finally banned and after 90 plus years, Absinthe has finally returned to glory. Although the taste & love for “the Green Fairy” may have faded it was never forgotten. Many producers continued to make distilled beverages made with the same anise-fennel based flavor profile. These include Sambuca from Italy, Raki from Turkey, Ouzo from Greece, Jagermeister from Germany and Pastis and Pernod from France. SAITEAUX Absinthe Botanical Soda can be enjoyed alone or as a cocktail infuser which can be mixed and added to your favorite liquor beverage to make a unique carbonated absinthe flavored cocktail. The chemical named thujone found in wormwood is one of the herbs in that gives Absinthe her green color. Thujone was blamed for "absinthe madness” and "absinthism" which is the addiction to absinthe and a collection of symptoms including hallucinations, numbness and dementia. "Today it seems a substantial minority of consumers want these myths to be true, even if there is no empirical evidence that they are," said researcher Dirk Lachenmeier, a chemist with the Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Laboratory of Karlsruhe in Germany. Because of the confusion & laws relating to thujone and the alleged psychoactive effects we have decided to eliminate it and focus on a recipe formulation that will give the most authentic taste and desired flavor of original absinthe.
