Los Angeles Worm Farm Collective

Los Angeles Worm Farm Collective The Los Angeles Worm Farm Collective is a business that produces worm castings and tea for use as nutrient-rich organic fertilizer and soil conditioner.

Founded in October 2014, the LAWFC was created in order to help grow the alternative economies movement in Southern California. Our long-term goal is to develop a network of local cooperatively-owned businesses that empowers workers and communities alike. The LAWFC turns waste into "black gold." We collect waste from the community and use it in our vermicomposting process, producing worm castings

and tea that serve as sustainable, highly-effective fertilizers often referred to as "black gold." The LAWFC is cooperatively owned and collectively governed. That means that all workers are business partners who have an equal share of the business and an equal say in its direction. The LAWFC hopes to contribute to the movement for economic justice by offering better job opportunities to those who experience limited options and oppressive workplace environments, including q***r and trans* folks, youth and young adults, people of color, women, and those from low-income and working-class communities.

Last fall I received a seed grant from and my whole life changed. As our grant cycle comes to an end, I bask in the gratitude I have for this network. We came together this past weekend to celebrate life and vision, and I am so thankful/lucky/honored to be connected to such incredible people.

WE HAVE STICKERS NOW!! Already a fan of the worm? Show off your fondness with some LA Worm Farm stickers. Let folks know worm p**p is where it's at. Click the link in our bio to visit our online shop (with more merch to come 😏) to check out our stickers. Sold as a 2 pack and offered on sliding scale, our stickers are cute conversation starters. They're also a fun way to support us as we continue to produce castings and our merch journey. 🙃

Our stickers are the first of so much to come. LA Worm Farm Collective is branching outside of worm castings- have no fear, we are still in the business of selling worm p**p. We are taking on merchandising, and we're taking it on with our values and hearts on our sleeve. is our mindset- from organic waste matter in our worm bed, to the materials we use in our merchandising endeavors. As an artist and maker, I want to work with what already exists. I want to create with that which many deem "undesirable". So much excitement to show y'all what's been in the making. But for now, buy some stickers (: Be sure to tag us when you stick your duo.

**Read more about my inspiration for the stickers in the comments ☺️

🪱 Hey wormrades! We're inspired to share that our co-worker owner Bay is participating in LEEAF*, a 2-yr business program for & by BIPOC Women through a partnership among Cal State LA, Community Health Councils, and the Small Business Development Center-CA LA Network. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
As part of a cohort of 60 BIPOC Women business leaders, we're thrilled to support LEEAF's vision of creating an investment ecosystem for fostering a local network of economic leaders in L.A. For many small business leaders, the roadblock to success is inequitable access to key resources and we're delighted by the chance to learn and grow collectively. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Moving into our 8th year, LAWFC is strategizing multi-year plans for growing & sustaining our company: a 7-yr old worker-owned cooperative vermicompost business fueled on passion & conviction for workplace democracy. As a small and intimate operation driven by deep values, we're humbled by the support we've received throughout seven years of growing our business roots and identity in L.A. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
We're excited to share our evolving journey, and we hope to rely on your support of our vision to run a business that treats people and planet right. Once our plans are polished, we’ll share updates on how you can tangibly support 🙌🏼🪱⁣
