Grassy Bar Oysters — Fresh from California Waters

HOW IT WORKS:

Step 1. Order by the 1st Tuesday of the month by 11:59 pm PT.

Step 2: Pick up from the Village Market Place Friday 2 pm - 5:30 pm or Saturday from 9 am - 2 pm PT. Oysters are harvested only after you place an order, ensuring ultimate freshness.

Step 3: Enjoy the freshest oysters available and plan for your next months order!

Grassy Bar oysters are a truly local, seed-to-table seafood. Their life begins as tiny oyster seed at the Holdfast Aquaculture hatchery in San Pedro, California, before they are hand-farmed and cultivated in the clean, cold waters of Morro Bay in Central California.

They are among the only oysters whose entire growing process, from hatchery seed to harvest, takes place entirely in Southern-Central California.

The VMP Offers Grassy Bar’s Medium Oysters — Approx. 3–3.5”: A larger oyster with a deeper cup and a fuller bite. Mediums are delicious raw on the half-shell but are also a great size for grilling, barbecuing, or broiling.

¡Llegan las ostras a Village Market Place!

Este mes de septiembre abriremos los pedidos anticipados de ostras locales y frescas de Grassy Bar Oyster Co.

Acompáñenos ESTE sábado 22 de agosto para una degustación gratuita de estas delicias cosechadas localmente.

Grassy Bar estará presente en el mercado de 1:00 p. m. a 3:00 p. m. con un puesto de ostras frescas; las abrirán al momento para que los quien visiten el mercado las prueben acompañadas de una selección de aderezos

No es necesario reservar: simplemente ven, prueba una ostra, conoce a las personas detrás del producto y aprende un poco más sobre los mariscos sostenibles de origen local.

Esta iniciativa forma parte de nuestro proyecto más amplio “Sustainable Seafood Hub” (Centro de Mariscos Sostenibles), con el que buscamos hacer que los mariscos locales sostenibles sean accesibles para las comunidades del sur de Los Ángeles.

Oysters are coming to Village Market Place!

This September we will be launching pre-order for fresh local oysters from Grassy Bar Oyster Co.

Join us THIS Saturday - August 22nd to sample these locally harvested delicacies for FREE.

Grassy Bar will be popping up inside the market from 1-3 pm with a raw bar, shucking fresh oysters for customers to taste with a selection of mignonettes.

No RSVP needed - just come by, try an oyster, meet the folks behind them, and learn a little more about locally sourced sustainable seafood.

This effort is part of our larger Sustainable Seafood Hub project, where we’ve been exploring how we can make sustainable local seafood accessible to communities in South Los Angeles.
