Pastor Stephen Cue Jn-Marie () and former owner Danny Park () went on the Kelly Clarkson Show to share about the transition of Skid Row People’s Market from its Korean owned roots into the cradle of a Black-led grassroots organization as a poignant benchmark and timely reminder of the important and interchaning roles of peace, healing and justice in community. We extend deep gratitudes to the for this opportunity and gift and to all of our friends, family, and comrades whose daily acts of love exemplifies Dr. King’s vision of the beloved community.

This episode will air tomorrow on Dr. King Day, Monday, 1/19. The show airs in Los Angeles on NBC at 2PM PST.

CREATING JUSTICE, LA OFFICIALLY ACQUIRES SKID ROW PEOPLE’S MARKET

Creating Justice, LA has officially acquired Skid Row People’s Market! The acquisition allows us to further address inequities in good food access in the skid row community right away, while maintaining and providing community jobs and mutual aid.

After 30 years in Skid Row, the transition of this store from its Korean owned roots into the cradle of a Black-led grassroots organization is a poignant benchmark and a timely reminder of the important and interchanging roles of peace, healing and justice in community.

This Sunday, May 18, we will celebrate the grand Re-Opening of Skid Row People’s Market AND the 2 Year Anniversary of the Creating Justice Peace and Healing Center!

California Wildfires - USDA Allows SNAP Hot Foods Purchases

Due to the recent impact of the wildfires in California, USDA has approved a temporary SNAP Hot Foods waiver in the following 5 counties in California.

Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Ventura.

Effective immediately SNAP retailers in these counties may temporarily accept SNAP benefits in exchange for hot foods through February 8, 2025.
